How to Fix Name, DOB, or Photo Mistakes in Voter ID Online
Finding a spelling mistake in your Voter ID name or a wrong Date of Birth (DOB) is a very common problem. Sometimes the Booth Level Officer makes a typing mistake, or sometimes you upload a bad photo.
Do not worry! You do not need to go to any government office to fix this. You can correct up to four mistakes at the same time using a single online form. Let's know how to do it.
Which Form to Use for Correction?
To fix any mistake in your existing Voter ID card, you must always use Form 8 (Correction of Entries in Electoral Roll). Remember, do NOT use Form 6, because Form 6 is only for completely new voters!
Documents Needed for Corrections
Before you start the online process, keep these documents ready on your mobile or computer. You only need to upload proof for the exact thing you are changing.

Step-by-Step Process to Fix Mistakes Online
Follow the below detailed steps to correct your details on the ECI portal easily:
Step 1. Open the ECI Voters Portal: For the first step, you must visit the official ECI portal at https://voters.eci.gov.in/ from your internet browser.
Step 2. Login to your Profile: Now login using your registered mobile number and password. If you are doing this for the first time, click on Sign Up to create your free account.
Step 3. Select Form 8: On the main dashboard, look for the box that says Form 8 (Shifting / Correction of Entries) and click on it to start the correction process.
Step 4. Choose Self or Family: The system will ask if you are correcting your own card or a family member's card. Select the correct option and enter the EPIC number.
Step 5. Select 'Correction of Entries': You will see four options on the screen. Carefully select the second option: 'Correction of Entries in Existing Electoral Roll'.
Step 6. Tick the Mistakes to Fix: Now, tick the exact boxes for what you want to change (for example, tick 'Name' and 'DOB'). You can choose a maximum of 4 items to correct at one time.
Step 7. Upload Proof and Submit: Type your correct new name or date of birth, and upload the valid document proof we discussed above. After checking everything, press the Submit button and save your Reference ID safely!
How Long Does It Take?
After you submit the online form, the local ERO will verify your attached documents. This usually takes about 2 to 4 weeks. Once approved, the new PVC Voter Card with the corrected details will be sent to your home address automatically by Speed Post.
